White fillings

White fillings are used to restore a tooth that has a small decay or fracture. This is a same day treatment.

Inlays are the preferred treatment for when a decay or fracture is too large to be restored by the above procedure. An inlay is a restoration that is similar to a filling that has been custom made for you.

This treatment involves two visits to our surgery. In the first session the decay is removed, a mould is then taken and a temporary filling fitted. On return of your inlay from the dental lab a second session is required to fit and cement the restoration to the cavity of your tooth.

Inlays are made with ceramic or gold.

For decays or fractures that have progressed too far to be restored with inlay care, a crown would be advised. The crown caps the whole of the tooth that improves the overall strength, appearance and ongoing health of the affected tooth.

As with inlay care, this procedure requires two visits to our surgery, the first session for the preparation and impression of the tooth and the second for the fitting of the crown.

Crowns are made with ceramic or gold.

Root Canal Treatment

In the centre of the tooth can be found the 'root canal system’, which consists of pulp commonly known as the 'nerve.' Root canal treatment, also known as endodontics, would be advised on symptoms of infection of this pulp.

This procedure will remove the infected pulp from the tooth and replace it with a dental material caller 'gutta percha.' At a later stage a crown would be required to then cap the tooth.
